Grand Prairie offers a variety of attractions that encourage
visitors to experience life as an adventure. The city include world-class
museums, internationally regarded orchestras, theaters etc. Tourist attractions
include Fort Worth Stockyards, Lone Star Park, Louis Tussaud's Palace of Wax,
Loyd Park, Lynn Creek Marina, Nokia Theatre, Traders Village, The Tangle Ridge
and Prairie Lake’s Golf Course, The Dallas and Fort Worth Zoo and Joe Pool Lake.
General Information
Grand Prairie is the seventh largest city in the Dallas-Fort
worth Metroplex, 16th largest city in Texas and the sixth fastest-growing city
in the nation, with over 100,000 population. Grand Prairie was incorporated as a
city in 1909. Grand Prairie has a long history of flooding from Johnson Creek, a
major tributary of The West Fork of the Trinity River, which flows through Grand
Prairie. The City of Grand Prairie has won the Governor's Community Achievement
Award in 1971, 1973, 1991, 2003 and 2006 respectively for outstanding community
improvement. The city runs “Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful program” to develop
community leadership, education, public awareness and litter prevention.
Grand Prairie’s eastern boundary is 12 miles west of downtown
Dallas and the western edge is 15 miles east of Fort Worth. The city is just
five minutes away from DFW International Airport. The city is easily accessible
through highways like Interstate 20, Interstate 30, State Highway 360, Loop 12
and Spur 303.

Grand Prairie is a city, situated in Dallas, Ellis and
Tarrant Counties in the state of Texas, United States. The city is a part of the
Mid-Cities region in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Grand Prairie is located
at 32°42′55″N, 97°1′1″W (32.715266, -97.016864) and 515 feet above the sea
level. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area
of 81.5 square miles (211.2 km²). As of the census of 2000, there were 127,427
people, 43,791 households, and 32,317 families residing in the city. The
population density was 1,784.6 people per square mile (689.1/km²). There were
46,425 housing units at an average density of 650.2/sq mi (251.0/km²).
